Mum Dee Walks for Little Troopers!

1/9/2020

Transcript of MumDeeDoes video #3:

Hello my Darlings and welcome to Mum Dee Does. I am Dee, a mum who does it all and today I want to introduce to you a fundraising challenge.

In the next four months I am hoping to walk 400 miles and lose 40 lbs for a charity called Little Troopers.

After little Ronnie was born I have given into my sugar addiction and changed my food habits and came up with a whole bunch of other excuses which led to a substantial weight gain, but now that he is nearly two years old and on his feet, enough is enough, it's time to do something about it and get back into a healthy range of BMI, because I checked it the other day and i'm actually obese. So the best way for me to do that is to start walking. I've done it before and I live in a beautiful place - Eday is a beautiful island for walking, it has beautiful scenery, wildlife and nature, and a really good flat well-maintained road, so even if I don't want to go off-roading just yet it's just perfect, putting one foot in front of the other, and before too long I am three miles away from home which makes it a six mile round trip. Also Eday is very well segmented and so I always know just how far I've gone from home.

I have already walked around Eday for a week and I've actually racked up 32 miles which isn't too bad at all. My goal is at least 3 miles a day because I'm hoping to complete this challenge on Christmas day, 25th of December.

Little Troopers is a wonderful charity helping children of our British Armed Forces heroes during the stressful deployment period. They help children cope with stress, anxiety and practical issues of parental separation and they also do their best to help keep the parent and the child connected during the deployment period.

Bloopers: ( <...> their parents to go and help make Britain whatever they do <...> so yeah so).

I have lost weight many times before but it always seems to creep back on when I'm not looking so this time I am employing all the best techniques that I've learned from the past. I'm especially watching my food habits and fighting my sugar addiction, which has flared out of control especially during the stressful times of being a first-time new mum on a remote island in Orkney. When I launched this challenge I actually thought that the 400 miles is going to be the hardest part but now I'm revisiting this idea and actually think that the losing weight part is going to be the challenge, because with miles I'm already ahead and whilst the weather is good I'm trying to rack the miles up and I'm actually really enjoying the walks; but losing weight is going to take a lot more of a willpower and a lot more planning and a lot more... sacrifices on my part.

And if you want to support me you can donate on the Virgin Money Giving platform - I’ll link the link below - and you can also search for a #MumDeeWalks on all social media platforms: updates, walk miles, photos, basically you'll find everything under that #MumDeeWalks. I'm really hoping that with your help I can raise £400 for this amazing charity.
