My life's goals and plan for the next 5 years

Transcript of MumDeeDoes video #6:

Hello my Darlings and welcome to Mum Dee Does. I am Dee, a mum who does it all and today I want to create a vision for my life in the next five years.

In five years’ time little Ronnie will be seven years old, so I expect the homeschooling journey will be well on the way and I am hoping that it's going really well and that he's very much engaged in the activities and the projects that we take part in, we are a part of all the social clubs and that we are surrounded by a supportive and friendly homeschooling community. As a side note to that, I am hoping that homeschooling becomes a little bit more mainstream and that a lot more people consider this as a legitimate route of educating your child.

I'm hoping that in five years’ time the cottage renovation is completed. I'll be honest with you, since we moved in we have not had an opportunity to fix many problems that this old house presents. The roof is leaky and the old stone walls trap a lot of the moisture, and they get cold and so it's a damp property and it requires a lot of work to resolve some of those. So I am hoping that five years from now we would have solved major problems that this house presents: fixed the roof, fixed the walls, painted, and bought furniture that we actually own! It's one of the main reasons James is going away to work with the RFA - so that it improves our income and that we are able to start and complete these projects, that are a little bit more expensive.

Also, since James decided to go away and work with the RFA we have come up with a new dream of owning a boat, so we could teach Ronnie how to sail it and just so we can have holidays at a cheaper rate than finding means and ways of getting away from Orkney and back to civilization, back to mainland Scotland or the rest of Britain or even Europe. So, a really good idea is for us to own a boat and use that boat to discover the world and to learn and to teach Ronnie all about yachting and sailing, and give him the skills that he can take forward for life. And as I say, also see the greater world out there.

And I'm hoping in general that five years from now James is doing really well with the Royal Fleet Auxiliary. There is going to be quite a few steps from when he starts this year to the completion of his training. There's going to be a few courses that he needs to to complete. I'm hoping that he does really well with all of those and that he's really enjoying the job. And I am especially hoping that in five years’ time I am used to the routine of what being a full-time RFA wife entails, meaning that I learn to cope on my own when James is away for four months, I learn all the essential skills of being a functioning adult on a small island in Orkney.

This may sound a little selfish but I'm hoping that five years from now this channel, as well as my blog are doing really well. I'm hoping to capture the journey between “here” and “there”, and I'm hoping to help people, and inspire people, and generally have a journal of all the memories and thoughts to look back on, and celebrate the little wins and successes in life. I'm really passionate about recording this journey and I'm really hoping that I've done really well, and so in five years’ time I have a good quality, densely packed manual as such, of this adventure of becoming an RFA wife, homeschooling Ronnie.

As a side note to that - I would like to write a book. I really hope that in five years’ time from now I would at least have a working manuscript of a book that I have in my mind. Or even a couple of extra books that I was thinking about writing and just never got around to it. So, Dee - in five years’ time I hope you have a book written!

And I am also hoping to have my health sorted once and for all. So I really need to get rid of all this excess weight that I put on during the pregnancy and in the last two years of being a first-time mum. It was quite stressful and so I need to get back into good shape and good health, and also find long-term coping methods of getting my emotional well-being and mental health into a good state, so that I don't bring any issues and problems going forward into Ron's life, and also can have a more fulfilling and stable future for myself. So I'm hoping to have achieved all my health goals and be healthy once and for all.

So these are my five goals to achieve in the next five years:
  1. homeschooling Ronnie
  2. sort the house and get a boat
  3. James is doing really well with the RFA and I am used to the new routine
  4. my blogs, vlogs and even a book is doing very well
  5. my health is in good order, both physically and mentally

So, this is my vision for the future. I would be very interested to learn what you're thinking about your future. If you drop me a line down in the comments below I always try to respond to every single one. Let me know! Let me know what are your dreams, your hopes, your aspirations, what are you working on and what are you hoping for in the next five years.
